Mezzanine Floor Planning Permission
- Planning permission or planning consent is the permission required in the United Kingdom in order to be allowed to build on land, or change the use of land or buildings. Within the UK the occupier of any land or building will need title to that land or building (i.e.
Approval by the local authority to the building or change of use of a property or extension to an existing property.

- In architecture, a mezzanine or entresol is an intermediate floor between main floors of a building, and therefore typically not counted among the overall floors of a building. Often, a mezzanine is low-ceilinged and projects in the form of a balcony.

It's a very Tesco Christmas
Back home at the parents' house for Christmas and we're taken to the local Tesco - or, as my mum calls it, 'the big Tesco' (it being bigger, naturally, than the 'small' Tesco).
One of the things that I came away with after the end of my training contract (woohoo! qualified non-practising solicitor!) was a head stuffed full of esoteric knowledge such as: until recently, there was a loophole in planning permission law that *didn't* require permission for the creation of mezzanine floors. In, for example, large retail outlets. The creation of which mezzanine floor would add, say, up to a quarter of the existing retail area.
Anyway. All of the above is a mere preamble to the jaw-dropping site of an inclined travelator/stretch escalator prompting an "oooh, shiny"
